Attacks on Ethiopians in Saudi worsen

Many Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia, who spoke to ESAT, have said that several thousands of Ethiopian migrants are still languishing in concentration camps known as Setreh, in Saudi Arabia.

Thirsty and hungry pregnant women, children and mothers are calling for help. Those that leave the camps to buy foods and drinks are being killed, said friends of those killed.

ESAT’s reporter in Addis Abeba said IOM has been covering the medical treatment costs of the returnees and most suffer from psychological and physical traumas.

Meanwhile, protests opposing the treatment of Ethiopian migrant workers in Saudi Arabia have continued. Ethiopians residing in Sweden had protested outside the Ethiopian Embassy on Wednesday and brunt the photographs of the Saudi King Abdullah.

On Thursday, Ethiopians residing in Spain had protested outside the Saudi Embassy in Madrid. The protesters have also submitted their complaint to the representative of the Embassy.
